Choosing a Full-Color Label Printer

A full-color label printer removes pre-printed stock from the process: the design is printed on demand from a single blank roll, so artwork changes cost a file, not an inventory write-off. The JCP140U uses a thermal inkjet (TIJ) CMY engine in a compact desktop footprint.

Where color earns its place

Brand-consistent product labels, promotional packs, and identification labels where a single spot color is not enough to distinguish variants. If the label only needs black text and a barcode, a monochrome thermal printer remains the cheaper option.

Printing from a blank roll

Because there is no pre-printed plate or stock, the label changes with the data. That is most valuable when run lengths are short, when variants multiply, or when artwork is revised often enough that obsolete pre-printed rolls would be wasted.

Media compatibility

The JCP140U prints on plain paper, kraft paper, matte coated art paper, inkjet matte synthetic paper, coated art paper and color tattoo paper, from 0.08 to 1 mm thick and 25 to 112 mm wide, with automatic printhead gap adjustment.

Common Questions

Do I need pre-printed label stock?

No. The JCP140U prints the complete design — logos, color blocks, barcodes and text — from a single blank roll.

What media can it print on?

Plain paper, kraft paper, matte coated art paper, inkjet matte synthetic paper, coated art paper and color tattoo paper, 0.08–1 mm thick and 25–112 mm wide.

Can it print barcodes as well as graphics?

Yes. Color graphics and barcodes are produced in the same pass, so a single label can carry branding and machine-readable data.

Can I run the same media on both this and my mono printer?

Some substrates overlap. Send us the media you plan to use and we will confirm compatibility before you commit to a configuration.
