Choosing the Right Handheld for Your Operation

Five rugged Android handhelds, one set of trade-offs: how much keyboard, how much screen, and how many hours the shift actually needs. Every model runs Android with 1D/2D scanning, an IP rating and OEM/ODM branding options, so the choice is about fit rather than capability.

Keypad, touch, or both

Keypad-led work — receiving, cycle counts, high-volume picking — holds up better with physical keys your operators can find without looking. JMD63C carries a 20-key layout on a 30-hour battery; JMDK40 offers 29/38/47-key options with 5G; JMDD40 pairs a 4-inch touch display with a 26-key pad at 245 g.

Screen size decides the workflow

A 4-inch class device (JMDD40) stays out of the way for scan-first tasks and fits a pocket on delivery routes. The 6-inch class (JMD94C, JMDS65) gives enough canvas for multi-column picking lists, signature capture and photo proof of delivery.

Battery hours against shift length

Single-shift operations are covered by JMD94C on an 18-hour battery. Sites that cannot stop to charge — two-shift warehouses, chilled and outdoor yards — are better served by JMD63C at 30 hours, or JMDK40 with a 7000mAh pack and 2.4m drop survival.

Common Questions

Which model suits a warehouse that runs two shifts a day?

JMD63C is built for exactly that: a 30-hour battery and a physical 20-key keypad so operators can work glove-on without watching their hands. Where cellular backhaul is also required, JMDK40 adds 5G, a 7000mAh pack and 2.4m drop survival.

Can we standardise on one handheld across retail and logistics?

JMD94C is the closest thing to a single answer — 6-inch HD display, Qualcomm octa-core, Wi-Fi 6 plus 4G, 18-hour battery and IP65 cover both shelf-edge tasks and receiving. Sites that need 5G or IP68 sealing should add JMDS65.

How do these devices behave in chilled, wet or outdoor environments?

JMDS65 carries IP68 sealing with 5G, and JMDK40 is rated to survive 2.4m drops. Both are specified for field, yard and chilled operations where a consumer-grade PDA fails.

Can the handhelds be branded for our own product line?

Yes — all five platforms are available on an OEM/ODM basis with your branding, packaging and pre-loaded applications. Evaluation units are available for pilot testing before any volume commitment.
